Out of Town, Out of Luck
I stopped in Scranton while traveling from Canada back towards MD and decided to check this place out.
The Getaway Lounge is located about half an hour's worth of really boring drive south of Scranton. I visited on a Sunday night after dark. I can't speak for daytime, but at night, this place was difficult to find- even I-81 is poorly lit, to say nothing of state and local roads. Coupled with the fact that the place is kind of up a hillside off US-11, you want to consider GPS, at least at night. Parking was free and ample, at least when I visited. No security presence, no cover. Got my water ($3, cheaper than city clubs) from a friendly attentive bartender and took a seat. There is a price list for drinks openly positioned at the bar.
The first thing that struck me once inside was how big the place seemed and how big the stage is. The building has the feel of an old barn. The stage looks almost big enough for ballroom dancing and has two poles. The bar surrounds the stage (you'll have to throw your dollar bills, but the girls will do the tip walk). There are bathrooms and a pool table to the right, it looks like the private dance area is to the left, there are pictures of porn stars on the wall, and funny little signs all over. There's a popcorn machine and it looked like there had been a buffet of sorts set up earlier.
On this night, there were only four girls working. By the time I got there it was almost 9PM and they close at midnight, so I didn't expect any more dancers to arrive. The girls were nothing special. Three AA (one fit enough but with a really short boyish ugly haircut, one who I think had a moustache, and one who was just... meh) and one average looking white girl with noticeably saggy boobs. The white girl was sitting by someone already, she said he name was Magenta when I asked during her tip walk. One AA girl (the meh one, whose name I did not bother to ask) asked if I wanted a dance but that was a polite no thanks from me.
Given my lack of interest in private anything, I did not inquire of prices, let alone extras or mileage.
Getaway Lounge has the feel of a place that does not take itself too seriously and where there is fun to be had- but only if the crowd and energy are there. It's very possible that this is more of a locals place, and with frequent attendance you can know the better times to visit and develop a rapport with a dancer. But alas, I was just passing through, and on this random night, I should have just stayed at the hotel and gotten an extra hour of sleep.
