sinclair's Review
Baby Dolls was only two miles from my hotel, and I had driven past it a dozen times, so I decided to throw caution to the wind and stop at 18:00 on a Saturday. The building is made of brick and cinder blocks and looks old. There was no cover charge to get in. The inside looked to be at most eighteen hundred square feet. A small bar with six stools is on your left as you enter. There was an eight by ten foot stage in the middle of the room. It had a stationary pole in the middle and a second brass pole by the steps that seemed to be useless. There were two steering wheels on the ceiling that dancers could hang from and spin. A pool table is in an elevated area at the back of the room. Music is played off of a TouchTunes jukebox on the back wall. Sometimes dancers would beg customers to pay for their music on the jukebox. Baby Dolls is a bikini club.
Budweiser bottles were $3. A Budweiser draft in what looked to be about a fourteen ounce glass was $2.25. The draft beer tasted slightly flat. On Mondays and Wednesdays, pitchers of Bud Light and Budweiser are $5. An older lady in her sixties was sitting in the first booth just inside the door and seemed to function as a manager and waitress. The bartender looked ratchet and was begging customers to buy her drinks. The ATM has a maximum withdrawal of $200 and charges a $10 fee per transaction.
There were only two dancers working early Saturday evening: Jazz and Tink. Jazz was an African-American dancer who was eight months pregnant. She mentioned that her due date was in less than a month. One of the drunks at the bar joked that he may have to deliver a baby on stage. I have seen a lot of pregnant dancers over my strip clubbing career, but I have never seen one still dancing at this late stage of the pregnancy. I am not going to lie—it was actually disgusting to watch a woman whose water was about to break prance around the stage in stilettos. Nobody tipped Jazz on stage, so she did a tip walk around the room. Tink was African-American and had red hair. She had A cups and looked very muscular, probably eight percent body fat. I asked her if she goes to the gym a lot, and she replied that she runs track in college. She looked a little older than a typical college student and started out dancing to an old blues song. I tipped a few dollars into her bikini, but tipping really gets you nothing here. Tink would dance for about five songs in a row, while Jazz could only manage to do one song at a time.
