Downtown is Better than Glendale
Arrived at the Diamond Cabaret after leaving another club where cigar smoking is also allowed because I wasn't having much fun there. Upon arriving, my buddy and I took a seat near the back bar. The club is spacious, and the chairs are comfortable. Although the ashtrays weren't getting as much attention as I prefer, everything was pretty clean. The lighting is dark and the music is loud. It's a pretty typical, if a bit higher class strip club environment. There is a dress code, and you pass through multiple doormen before you get inside. The crowd is mixed, but leaned toward older white guys on this particular Friday night. My one beef with this club is that it doesn't have any poles. Despite the lack of poles (or perhaps because of it), some of the girls are remarkably good at doing tricks on the stage and contorting in ways that look similar to what you would see if there was a pole on stage.
We were just hanging out at a table enjoying our first round of beverages (beers in the $9-10 range) when one of the girls approached our table and sat down with us. [Speaking of beverages, I used to be able to get a draft beer here, but apparently only bottled beer is available now. Perhaps that's a second beef.] After a nice chat of about 10 or 15 minutes, she asked me to buy her a drink. I was liking her enough to continue enjoying her company, so I obliged. A short time later, she was due on stage, but before she went on, she asked me for another drink. Again, I obliged, but she's a sharp operator, so she asked me for a double which I agreed to buy (about $27 or so).
After her stage time, we returned to our table where she convinced me to go upstairs. I've been to the Diamond Cabaret before, but it's been a while, and I don't typically take private dances, so I've never been upstairs before. I was digging her vibe, though, so I decided to splurge. There's a $10 house fee for a wristband. Her fee was $50 per song with an option to add $10 for full nude. There appears to be some room for negotiating here, but whatever. I was living in the moment. I was quoted $200 for 15 minutes or $400 for 30 if I wanted to do that instead of the per-song price.
