I wish all neighborhood bars were like this
Ok. I understand why a lot of strip club fans would look down at Encore. But I really enjoyed myself once I realized what it is. I stopped after working in town a couple Fridays ago. Parked out front in a small lot with a security camera and walked in where I was asked for a 10 Buck cover and my ID was scanned by an actually friendly bouncer which is rare in Milwaukee clubs. Grabbed a beer from the bar for 5 or 6 bucks and made my way back to the stage. This is literally a neighborhood bar like the hundreds of neighborhood bars in the city. And they run it like one. Actually they run it like one of the better ones I’ve visited. The owner was working behind the bar and greeted me warmly. The pretty bartender was attentive and friendly. And the staff went out of their way to circulate and clean the tables and reset the chairs at the stage. You could tell they actually care another business and the clientele. Now like I said I understand why the place gets a bad rap. The attention here is almost exclusively on the stage show and not private dances which is an oddity in clubs these days. But after sitting at the stage and enjoying the first three of the nine dancers that were on that night, it actually kind of took me back to my earliest club visits in a good way. Each dancer did two songs and actually put effort into their show. They’d circulate for tips and you actually wanted to give them because they were actually working to perform. The girls were a mix of races. Probably half white, a couple black and a few Latino. All actually pretty with no real outliers. I was pleasantly surprised. When the dancers finished their sets they’d do the Milwaukee tip walk, but I’ve never seen a lower pressure strip club in my life. I actually had to ask the last girl if they even had private dances and since she was new she had to go ask the prices. They were 25 for one song and 45 for two in a nearby room that I could see had four chairs set up for dances but in the hour and a half I was there on a busy weekend night I never saw a single dance. Yet the dancers all seemed happy with what they earned on stage. And the stage show was fun. In the end I decided to just enjoy the stage show. So for a couple hours of old school entertainment I paid maybe $60 total between cover, beer and tips. And I had a good time. I’ll come back.
