Busy night at Lipsticks, but too bright for any extra fun
After all the news about a month ago, I decided to stop in at Lipstick on my way back from Dallas. I mainly wanted to see if things were as wild as I'd read back in May, but was cautious after the arrests made a few weeks ago.
Club: Dive bar feel with lots of regular patrons. Main area can be broken down into five areas (as you walk into the place). Imagine a rectangle, with the entrance at one of the shorter ends. To the left are the main dance stages - no poles, just the elevated stages. On the right side are couches along the wall. Tables & chair seating separate the couches from the main bar and the main bar from the stages. There are two satellite stages at either end of the bar accessible to bar patrons or people seated between the bar and couches. At the far end is the second bar, bathrooms and entrance to the "VIP" seating. Lighting has been turned up significantly all over, especially in the VIP area, unfortunately.
Prices: $7 for regular entry, $25 or $27 for the wristband allowing access to the couches. The only change from prior visits, is that couch seating is only allowed while getting dances. Not sure if the same applies during dayshift. $50 for VIP, which I got - a little too optimistic.
