Playing In Peoria

So it was my birthday, and I wanted to treat myself. I was a big fan of the Peoria Big Al's at its old location on Main Street, and thought I would give the new location a second try. I arrived at twenty to eleven, paid the entry fee, and went inside.

The venue was clean and spacious--could have been a club in any big city. I sat down at a table and waited for someone to take my order. A dancer came and talked to me, and said there weren't any waitresses around, so I thanked her with a tip and went up to the bar. After a couple of minutes watching the bartender racing around as though she were two dozen orders behind, I was finally able to get a drink and a menu. I ordered a "boobie" burger and some tater tots, and the food was good--thing was the bar faced away from the stages, so I couldn't watch the dancers and eat at the same time.

Now this was supposed to be "Infidelity Hurts Awareness Day" at the club, according to its Facebook page, and there were supposed to be some VIP specials--but when I asked another dancer about them, she didn't know what I was talking about. The dancers themselves weren't all that special, but that was more about me being put off by the tattoos. I might have found a dancer who I liked enough to give me a private dance or two if I'd stayed longer, but I decided I'd had enough and went back to my hotel.
