I see by their Facebook page that the “new” Mickey's building opened exactly twenty years ago. Mickey was a retired firefighter. When the “old” building succumbed to age and dirt, it mysteriously burned to the ground, in what I am told was definitely an accident. The new building is now old, but if you look around inside you can sometimes see some of the original dancers and patrons from the last century.

A visitor on last Wednesday afternoon would have found ample parking, because only three dancers were at work: one Brazilian and two Rhode Islanders. One of the Rhode Islanders was a twenty-something spinner with a lot of ink; the other was double her age and weight. The Brazilian was also older and wider. I've met stunningly beautiful women at Mickey's, but not today. There were also three customers (including me) who were a lot older than the dancers.

Strictly speaking, there's seldom any actual dancing involved at Mickey's. One of the women climbs up on top of the bar, and walks from patron to patron, sitting on the bar for a few minutes of conversation and fondling. Lap dances also tend not to involve actual dancing. Mickey's has the lowest lap dance price in New England at $20 per five minutes, half of which goes to the house.
