I made a recent week-long business...
I made a recent week-long business trip to ATL and I was able to check out a few of the clubs during my stay. First up, Mardi Gras. While this club has been getting pretty good ratings lately, my experience wasn't as pleasant. First of all, it is not easy to find if you are from out of town. My GPS device got me close but it was only because someone recently stated here on TUSCL to look behind the Wendy's that I was able to find it. Otherwise, I probably would have gotten frustrated looking for it and moved on to another club that night. Tip: hit the side road to the right of the Wendy's and then turn right onto another side road behind the Wendy's and you will finally see it on your left. $10 cover I believe (I visited many clubs and they all start to bur together at some point). It was a Monday night so it wasn't too crowded. I was hungry so I decided to order some food and a beer. Their menu is limited (mostly sandwhiches). The beer I remember was $5. The food was okay, but you would be better off eating somewhere else before arriving here. There were some nice looking women at the MGL. There is a main stage and a few satellite stages. There is also a bar to sit at. The music was okay and the danceing was alright, but not extraordinary. If I remember right, the girls dance for three songs, eventually getting nude. The crowd was mostly well-behaved young and middle-aged professionals. There were also a few couples in the crowd. Here's the thing that really bugged me and made me lower my score quite a bit....this one dancer named Erika I believe (I know her name started with an E) asked if she could sit with me as I was finishing my sandwhich. I said sure. After the obligatory small talk of her asking me "Where are you from?", "What are you in town for?", "How long will you be here?" (blah, blah, blah), she asks if she can dance for me. I give in and she does her little $10 table dance. Not bad, but nothing that is going to have me remembering the experience for very long. Then she asks if I want a VIP dance. She quotes me $150 for 30 minutes and tells me I will be allowed a decent amount of contact. When I asked it there were any additional fees or costs (such as room fees or champaign costs, etc) she promises there are none. So we agreed to a flat $150. I give in because I read good reviews about the VIP dances here and wanted to see for myself. She tells me to wait just a moment as she goes and gets a waitress. She goes up to this one waitress and starts talking to her (I guess you have to arrange it through the waitress). But just then, my dancer gets escorted off to another table by the waitress where this older couple just arrived. The dancer gives me the "Wait just a minute" sign from the table as she starts to talk with this other couple. Well, I'm thinking it seems a little unusual but I'll give it a minute. Maybe she is old friends with the couple or something. Well, I wait, and wait, and wait. Finally, after sitting there for roughly 15 minutes with no sign by the dancer that she will be heading back my way anytime soon, I've had enough and take off. I doubt the old couple got any dances from her so it seems she just blew an opportunity to make some easy money that night. Oh well, more for me to spend at another club. The MGL may be a good club to most, but I have to say my personal experience didn't leave a favorable impression on me.
