Canadian hospitality
Went around 10:00pm on a Friday and the club was surprisingly dead for a Friday night (maybe about a dozen other customers and about the same number of dancers.) Cover was in the neighborhood of $20 CAD. Only option for dances were lap dances upstairs (not private but away from the main crowd) and were $20 CAD each. You have to buy a wristband ($20 if I remember correctly) to have access to the upstairs but it's good all night. If you're from the U.S. the value here is actually quite good when factoring in the exchange rate.
The hustle factor is kind of high here. There's a shot girl that comes around every time there's a dancer sitting with you and she had a tactic of insinuating you're a cheapskate if you didn't buy the dancer a shot. I can't remember the exact price of the drink because I only asked the first time but it was really overpriced (I want to say $15 or $20.) The handful of dancers that sat down with me cut to the chase pretty quick by asking for dances. A couple didn't take it too well when I said I wasn't interested.
I had heard this place had a reputation for having a party atmosphere (mostly due to the fact that it attracts young Americans from the Detroit area) but that wasn't the case on this night. Dancers took turns doing a few songs on stage and each one was very low energy. One of the things that threw me off was there was nobody sitting at the stage and there was no stage tipping at all. As you know, Canada's lowest paper bill denomination is a 5 and stage tipping didn't even seem to be expected here.
