Made my annual pilgrimage to Motown last week. I stopped in at The Room and was not surprised to be entertained in royal fashion by the uninhibited (if not always 10-ish) dance-staff. Le Chambre is unassuming (an almost invisible bar in an almost inaccessible strip mall) but a real treat. You need to plan your entrance into the mall well in advance. Going North on Telegraph you need to exit BEFORE I-96, go past the I-96 entrance/exit ramps and stop lights, and then turn right into the strip mall. Going South on Telegraph, you have to pass the strip mall, go past I-96, make the next U-turn and then follow the "Going North..." instructions. Despite the confusion, all becomes clear when you actually make your grand entrance.

I had a quick lunch (not a bad kitchen for a bar), followed by a quick munch (not a bad kitchen for a VIP room) before heading back to the airport for an early flight back to the hometown Block. While the dancing isn't much to talk about back home, the VIP more than makes up for it. $20 a dance plus tip is a really great investment if you find the right companion - look for the aggressive, "experienced" approach and go for it.
