Return to the Hippo!

Went back to the Hippo on a recent trip to Las Vegas. I've reviewed this place before and I actually went twice on this trip. One visit was pretty good and the other was pretty meh. I'll discuss both visits in this review.

I called for the limo transportation that I've used in the past but was told they would not be available for several hours. I asked the girl on the phone if I could take an Uber or walk over. She told me not to take an Uber directly to the club or I would have to pay the cover. The cover then goes to the Uber driver as a kickback. She said if I took an Uber to Dino's she would comp my cover and first drink. Deal. I popped into Dino's for a quick beer and managed to win a few dollars playing video poker at the bar. I walked across the street and into the Hippo. My name was on the list and got a drink and cover comped.

The club itself is the remodeled Olympic Gardens for anyone with a nostalgia for Vegas clubs that were a good value and a good time. You enter through a hallway that then T's at the mirror Hippo. When its busy they may have both sides open but typically they only have one side of the T open. Both visits this trip were on weeknights and the club was fairly slow. Only the right side was open which has a stage with seating and tables around it. There's an elevated bar towards the back of the room. Bathrooms are on the right as you walk toward the bar. I typically drink beer at the titty bar and the beers were reasonably priced by Vegas standards.
