The Palace, a break from solitude
Recently I found myself in San Antonio. I was on a road trip that took me through the great state of Texas. I am by nature a loner, but even I have a need for some social contact. I stopped at a a Twin Peaks for dinner. I sat at the bar for ten minutes without so much as a sideways glance from the bar tender, so I left to find a hotel.
I spotted The Palace easily from the road as it was well lit and looked respectable. A quick internet search revealed the Palace to be a gentleman’s club with a full kitchen. I knew I could find food and as well as some degree of socialization there.
Arriving, I met the parking attendant. She was friendly and explained parking was available in front for a price, If memory serves $10, or free in back. The parking lot was decently lit so I chose free parking. Upon entering the club there was the usual driver license check and reasonable entry fee, I think $5-10.
As I entered the club I was mildly surprised as it was respectfully lit, the music was a decent volume, seating was set up around a large main stage and there were three smaller stages around the main floor. I went to the bar and ordered a jack and Coke which was reasonably priced and some cheese sticks. Food and drink plus a tip for the waitress was about $20.
