Fish in a Barrel

I have never been to a commercial game preserve or on a safari or other guided hunting trip. I suspect that such orchestration can eventually make the pursuit of game as numbing as the mechanical engagement in extras at a SC that TUSCL reviews portray, accurately, as a sure-thing bordello.

Further straining the analogy, a conventional SC is more like the conventional hunting many of us probably grew up with and may still engage in. The “prey” is in their natural element and, from a purely animal vs. animal standpoint, has all of the natural advantages over the hunter. Of course, the hunter has the unnatural advantage of a firearm. The monger, analogously, has cash. Analogy further breaks down here, because a firearm can decide the outcome of a hunt for wild game, while cash is only as effective as the monger’s “prey” considers it to be. For certain dancers, and with certain mongers, there just might never be enough ammunition to get the job done. In both cases, however, the hunter/monger loses his advantage, and his opportunity, if he doesn’t have enough sense to avoid scaring off the prey. Difference being that wild animals, unlike dancers, generally don’t care how creepy and offensive hunters are.

The “bordello-type” experience can be enjoyable in the moment, but the pleasant memory fades quickly. OTOH, when you achieve the desired outcome in a more “touch and go” setting, the satisfaction stays with you, especially if you encounter a vibe that makes you want to come back for more, rather than spending your time, money and…ejaculate (at my age, I’ve accepted that I only have a quantifiable number of orgasms left in me) on the next new, easy thing that comes along.
