Not as Bad as Usual

Crumbling under the stresses of life, I returned to Haven Place recently hoping for a pleasurable escape. HP is the same dump it's always been (looks like they got new barstools, everything else is the same dump it's always been- aging wood, neon beer signs, disgusting bathroom). No cover. No security. Secure your car. No food, just drinks. Water is now $4, up from $3 (annoying, but still cheaper than anywhere else in the area). I don't drink alcohol so can't comment beyond the water. Same raised platform stage with a pole and mirrored wall.

I already know not to expect too much in the way of girls at HP. Just like ownership has stopped trying, so have the girls. On weeknights, there are very few girls because there are very few patrons and there are very few patrons because there are very few girls. The girls that work are somewhere between lazy and apathetic and resigned to the fact that it's not very busy. It's one thing to be pushy and aggressive but not trying at all is also not good. Makes you wonder why they don't try to find more lucrative spots (or can't), but that's not my business. When I go to HP I'm basically looking to see if there's someone new who might be smart and exciting. The regulars are simply not that special.

This night there were four girls working (and compared to some nights at HP, that's a lot). Cathy is still there (she seems to always be there), she has to have figured out I do not find her attractive (her haircut and jawline... no, just no), I give her her tip and she moves on. Jenna was new, she's short, ink-free, and kind of a nice body. She's pretty enough from a distance but once you see her up close she looks like she was born during the Carter years. She was also really disorganized, carrying around her purse and her drink and her phone and her dollar bills all in two hands and then wondering why she felt awkward and clumsy. MJ walked in kind of late, also short, thick wavy/curly black hair, probably also a smidge older, didn't get a chance to interact with her.
