I'd stopped by The Gentleman's Club last when I worked in Glendale easily over a decade ago and remember not thinking much of the place. Yet on a recent Saturday, with some time to kill and in the area, I decided to give it another try. As others have mentioned, it's in an industrial area that is right on the LA/Glendale border. It's easy to miss and there's nothing around there except, I don't even know, other warehousy looking buildings that may or may not be occupied. It's not in a dangerous area, just a weird area for a club of any sort. There was plenty of parking behind the building where an old guy sat in what looked to be like a storage area behind the club and waved at me as I walked by him and around the corner into the club. There was no one to take a cover charge from me so I walked through the faux red velvet curtains to go inside to see a club that looked decent enough, clean enough and also empty enough. I saw one guy sitting there, no one dancing on stage and no women walking around. A heavyset short guy came out from somewhere and signaled me over to the bar and told me the cover was $20. He didn't offer me a drink for the $20 and I almost didn't pay it and walked out but I figured I had nowhere else to be for an hour and there was really nothing else around there so I bit the bullet and paid up and sat down. One dance, white, older (I'd say late 30's at best, maybe early 40's) came out and sat next to the other guy in the club. Than a minute or 2 later came out another dancer, younger, latina and she headed to me. Her name was Shay (or Shea I'm not sure) and she was actually pretty cute. Cute face (early 20's), pretty nice body, spattering of tats but that's pretty much par for the course these days. We talked about for a short while. She was fun. Not an incredibly insightful conversation but a few laughs and not too many uncomfortable silences and really what more can you ask. She wasn't really hustling me for a dance and the bartender guy who took my cover than went back to his other job, being the club DJ so no one was hassling me to buy drinks either. The music they played was really like 70's and 80's rock and there was no segue at all between the songs. He would just abruptly stop one towards then end and then start another. It was kind of comical. Anyway, after 10 minutes Shay asked me if I wanted a dance and I agreed. I really had no other choices and she was cute enough. It was $150 for either 10 minutes or 15 (I don't recall) and we went to a dance area that was covered by a curtain and fine enough. There was a small table with a tissue box on it which caught my eye and made me curious about what was about to become. However, the dance, while completely enjoyable was not off-the-charts. I didn't really try anything with Shay and I didn't get the impression extras were on the table anyway although who knows, maybe they were and I just wasn't forward enough. Either way, it was a nice enough time. After the dance, I said goodbye. If the girl worked at another club I might go back to see her, but this club was so dead and the options so limited I can't see me going back.
