A starter club for young dancers on their way to becoming a SB
This was my first visit to PaperMoon and my first time at a Virginia club. I only thought to come because a dancer I met in Atlanta is from the area and said she sometimes dances here. Not tonight though. The website lists dancers, bartender, and server by shift. I wonder if certain dancers have a strong following? There's not a log of extras here so not much coverage on TUSCL. The door charge and happy hour is documented in equal detail. I took advantage of both when I showed up at 6:30 PM to pay $5 at the door and $6 for a bottle of Modelo. The server, Ginger, was a nice lady with good service.
There was no charge for parking and plenty of spaces. Next door is a Dunkin Donuts and a Capital One Bank. I hit that drive-thru ATM before going in (it even spits out singles). The bathroom is in the entrance way where I paid the door fee. Inside, I sat down at the corner of a smallish bar (maybe 10 stools?). The main floor had tables with a stage in use at the far end and another that I'm told gets action on busy nights.
There were maybe 6-8 dancers working and about as many custies. Most were sitting around one regular until they got called up for a short stage show. A mix of very young and more experienced dancers. White, Latina, Black, and Asian were all represented. Maybe four solid head turners and a couple that I would not enjoy seeing again.
