Best visit in recent memory

I was wrong, and I couldn't be happier. For more than a year, I've been thinking that the good old days of clubbing were gone and never coming back. My last visit to Fantasies proved that much of what I miss can still be found.

Parking and interior layout haven't changed much since the club moved here from Dean Street: plenty of space in both. Neither, I was reminded, has the bartender, who remembers me from the old location.

On a recent Tuesday afternoon I arrived around 3:00 (no cover, fairly thorough metal detector) to find about ten dancers and ten customers. The dancers were varied (AA, Brazilian, Anglo) and the customers were not (fat old guys like me). The stage is a rectangle in the center of the room, with seats on all sides. I sat in one of them, and since I was the only one, the dancer came over for a chat and a few singles.
