Slow going early on a Saturday
This was my first visit to Ten's, which is located in what seems to be a super safe area several blocks from the beach. Parking was free and plentiful when I arrived, which was 1 PM on a Saturday. It opens at 12, and I arrived at one, thinking that would give the place time to get into gear. Fortunately or unfortunately, I was the first patron. The show began just for me.
The place is pretty upscale inside. It has the feel of a high end strip club, and not a local bar. Points for that. The stage area is pretty large, but a bit too large for me. More on that later. The VIP area in back is also quite nice. More on that later, as well.
My modus operandi is to have a drink by the stage while I meet the talent (tipping modestly) and retire to the back once I have made some decisions. I was foiled immediately by a dancer who asked if she could join me by the stage. I guess she was friends with the dancer, who didn't seem to mind. So, I made small talk with my new friend - a well built brunette - through several dancers. This was a distraction from the business at hand, though my friend was an interesting person and a good conversationalist and (it turns out) also gave a great private dance.
