New to Stamford and wanting to see what it had to offer, I checked out Mystique. I arrived around 11 pm on July 4th expecting it to be busy, but for the most part is was fairly empty. It didn’t really pick up until about 30 minutes to closing.
The club is fairly small and decently clean, with a stage to the right of the entrance and a bar to the left. There was one bartender moving double time, so it took fairly long to get a drink. A beer was reasonably priced, and she didn’t seem interested in tips, she just kept hustling to the next order.
The dancers were almost entirely European. I saw maybe 2 black/hispanic strippers total. The dj was constantly pushing people to tip the girl dancing on stage, and even called the people sitting around the stage out individually. Many of the dancers were chatting with people or other dancers, and weren’t really pushy. Lap dance were fairly cheap at $25/song though the area was small and had no privacy, you’re basically on top of all of the other patrons. All in all, a nice small club with very little pressure (except the dj, hooch is crazy).
