Saturday at Diane's

Hopped over the border Saturday night to revisit Chez Diane's. If you're in Eastern upstate New York or Vermont, this is the closest club to the border. That's it, that's the draw. It's not fancy and some of the dancers I've seen in the past here have been rough. The building itself is more than a little rough, definitely in the dive bar category. Having said all that, if you want palatial and a smoke show keep driving to Montreal. For what it is, this place serves its purpose just fine.

The layout-you're buzzed in with a five dollar cover charge. Stage to the right, ATM immediately to the left (with a $24 CA cover charge. Better come prepared) long bar to the left, beyond that the men's room. Booths located behind the stage.

This was a particularly slow Saturday with five girls working. Never saw one of them on the stage. Bottle of beer was $7 CA, bartender was friendly and spoke decent English. I was approached by a five footish imp named Lindsey who took me in the back. Curtains on the booths, decent privacy. $20 CA a song full contact dances and Lindsey was on top of her game. She made it very clear that more was on the menu, but the grinding was good enough for me.

Took a couple more girls in the back for some dances-their English wasn't great, so conversation never happened, but there was a very aggressive pitch to go beyond just the dances. Made for a great time.

With the current exchange rate, this place is very reasonable and on this particular night, the girls were worth the trip. Midweek? Who knows.
