When You Gotta Go, You Gotta Go (Part Two)

It had been four years since I had been to Philly, and I had a little less than a two-hour window on a Saturday afternoon to make it to two of my favorite haunts – Purple Orchid and La Pearl Lounge/Outer Space Club. This is Part Two.

After leaving the Purple Palace, I arrived at La Pearl about 4:30, knowing that I had, at best, 30 minutes of free time before I had to leave for another engagement. The club is in a mostly-residential area, with only on-street parking available. Fortunately, I quickly found a spot nearby.

The club is kind of a two-for-one deal, with La Pearl on the first floor and Outer Space Club upstairs. There was a two-man greeting crew posted outside the door, who collected the $10 entry fee and said that there was no one upstairs yet, so it wasn’t open.
