South of the Border Experience, Close to Home
I was in Austin this particular afternoon and decided to check it out.
I had not been to this club since well before the Covid shutdown, but I remembered amiable ladies and a charge for parking in the small lot. There was no valet parking at the time I showed up. Good point one.
There was a $10 entry fee. OK. Once inside, the place is dark. I mean, it does take a while to have your eyes adjust. When you can finally see, there's not much decor and no other customers. Small tables with chairs that have seen better days and now have a lot of duct tape holding them together. OK, I was not expecting the Ritz. I got a Dos XXX at the bar for $7. The music, all Latin, was blasting. Did I mention that you should brush up on your Spanish if you expect to communicate?
There were several girls lined up at the bar. Many were of the large variety, and all were Hispanic. There was one skinny girl who decided to come to my table. I never got her name, but she promptly sat in my lap and began to grind. She spoke little English, and I had enough Spanish for a simple conversation. The convo was not the point, obviously.
It was her turn on the stage, so she climbed on the pole for a couple of songs and then returned to my lap.
