What Flash probably has going for it upfront is it is walkable from most midtown hotels. It is on 45th between 8th and 9th between theatre district / Times square and Hell's Kitchen. I noticed that taxis now have a $5 surcharge - so even a short ride, if you can get a cab, is $13-$15 with a small tip. In the past, my goto was rosewood room, but I found the quality there deteriorating and a recent posted review confirmed my last mediocre experience there. To travel that far east at that time of night is not worth it. In addition, it was impossible to hail a cab and ubers have become increasingly expensive from rosewood. As such, I walked to flash from my hotel and felt perfectly safe despite what you hear on TV.

The cover is $20. There is typically a "waitress" waiting to intercept you and seat you on the main floor. However, I've noticed you can bypass her and just go to the bar. It's not clear if a drink is required, but waters are like $10, beers were $12 or $14 and mixed drinks $18 to $20.

I met three stunners that evening. One from Colombia who also dances in Miami and was absolutely top shelf. Another gorgeous Russian / Mongolian who was near perfect, and a really pretty younger girl from Mexico City. Flashdancers has been described as the United Nations of clubs and this night did not disappoint. Yes, there are still some annoying girls of the "wanna dance" type. Some of them are quite aggressive. I usually just tell them I'm waiting for a friend and they get the hint and leave you alone.
