Potentially just me being paranoid, but cautionary tale

I visited around 9:30 PM on a Wednesday night after having dinner with several business associates downtown. Since it was an after dinner visit, I had already had several drinks with dinner, went back to my hotel changed out of business attire into shorts and a T-shirt, and headed out to the club. (I would exclude this piece, but it is somewhat important later.)

I arrived in a fairly well lit parking lot of the strip mall where the club is, which felt fairly safe at the time. After a quick pat down, search by the doorman, I paid my cover charge and went into the club. The bar is all along the wall to your left as you enter and I quickly got myself a beer.

There appeared to be around 15 girls working, good variety including black, Asian, white, and Hispanic. There were only about 10 other patrons in the club half of whom were a group of early 20s Asian guys who were obviously having a lot of fun and had drank way too much already when I arrived but were being fairly well behaved.
