Business recently took me to South Africa. I didn't have high expectations for entertainment opportunities, but was most pleasantly surprised by Teazers. It is a nationwide franchise, perhaps some half a dozen clubs in most large cities, run by a well-known local and colorful personality named Lolly Jackson. The club at 344 Rivonia in the Rivonia, Sandton district, is the flagship house in an upscale, good part of town. Rivonia is a major north-south artery, but you need to get onto a parallel side street by the same name, to find the club. I drove around for quite a while before realizing this. The side street, with plenty of high-end shopping, is to the east of the main boulevard.

In late 2006 Teazers was remodeling extensively inside and out to keep up with the new competition (see other review). Door fee is R100, and a waitress is assigned to you and ushers you in. The club is large, with one central stage and some satellite stages, but most of the action centers around the tables. Table dances are R150, and private booth dances are R200 -- more if you want to add in quite liberal contact. Table dances are just that -- the dancers get right up on the table. Many are in booths with a big, well secured table, which is more a mini stage hosting a small private group.

The club offers a full bar with very reasonable pricing. The wine list is excellent. The food is good also. During my visit, the restaurant facilities were actually reviewed by a major national newspaper, with quite high marks for a gentlemen's club kitchen. The dancers run the full gamut from acceptable to downright stunning. If you buy two or more dances, the second and more are nude. Rules on touching and physical contact are much more liberal and relaxed here than in the USA. There are many more white girls than was expected, with several eastern European imports. The dancer list changes frequently, so there's no sense in calling out my favorites. But there were several.
