Lights are on, but nobody’s home

The Van Nuys sister club has been closed for a while, and I thought this club suffered the same fate. I happened to drive by on Wednesday night and the door was open and lights were on. I was shocked and called to see if they were actually operating. Guy tells me they are open 8 pm - 2 am everyday except Sunday/Monday.

With this bit of news combined with being free on Thursday night, I decided to test the club out for the first time in years. This club has never been super busy, but I’ve found a few diamonds in the rough and I was kinda excited to see if this club could deliver since it is the closest club to my house. My excitement turned to disappointment.

Paid $20 to get in, the dj/manager/only person inside said there were a couple girls in the back getting ready and would be out shortly. I sit in one of the chairs away from the stage and wait. 5 minutes go by, 10 minutes go by, 15 minutes go by, got to 20 minutes and the dj/manager is acting like everything is normal while I’m sitting there waiting for any signs of life from the dressing room. I intentionally didn’t go close to the opening time to avoid a situation like this. The club had been open almost 2 hours, and there was nobody on the floor. I took the $20 loss as a lesson learned and got up and walked out, probably for the last time at Godfather.
