The New PO Normal is...Pretty Much Normal
By now, there have been enough intrepid post-raid PO reviews to make a stop seem worthwhile. Little square purple building at a busy intersection in in industrial SW Philadelphia, midway between Center City and PHL airport. PO's small parking lot is contiguous with the massive lot for a dysfunctional looking strip mall, so parking is never at issue. Walk through the door and the creepy bald guy who counts dances (manager, maybe?) is perched behind a raised counter immediately to the left. No cover, no metal detector, at least in the afternoons. Small rectangular stage is surrounded by what is either a hexagonical or octagonical bar. To your right are two "private" LD rooms, which each now have a diamond-shaped porthole, a post-raid change. The height of the window would require most people to make an effort if they wanted to look in.
Ordered a tonic water. Didn't notice the price, but drinks are cheap here. Chubby, friendly bartender said it was her first day tending bar, and she used to dance there. There were 5-6 patrons at 3 pm, and I saw 4 dancers. Two slim, fit AA dancers, and two chubby ones. One of the attractive AA dancers had just taken the stage, and the other, who I knew and liked, was on deck. One of the chubby AA dancers was taking a patron to one of the private rooms.
Immediately made eye contact with the fit dancer who had just started her stage set (2 or 3 songs). She approached me as soon as she got off the stage with the traditional PH handshake. I don't recall the name she used (wouldn't report it anyway), but I'd never met here there before and don't recall seeing the name mentioned in previous reviews. However, she was well acquainted with the PO ethos. She immediately asked if I wanted to have some fun, and, when I said I did, she led me to the communal room without further discussion. Never been in there before. Large, open room with couches around the walls. I don't know if she chose the communal room because of the windows in the private rooms, or because the communal room was empty, but she made it clear she was down for whatever. I asked how much for FS, and she asked what I would pay. I suggested $100 plus the cost of the songs, and she countered at $120, which was fine. The act itself was performed efficiently. Paid her the tip before leaving the room (a change I'd pick up form another recent review), and settled up on the songs in front of the manager/creep.
