This was my first trip to HK after 1-2 years debating whether or not to make the trip. This was late Feb on a Friday/Saturday night.

I landed at SAN at 1PM, took an Uber from the Airport to San Ysidro Transit Center. I had never crossed the border before but was nothing too complicated. Handed my FMM, they asked where i was going and for how long. After that went to line for Backpack to go through the Xray machine and I was on my way. It was still early in the day, I didn't see the Limo, but I wasn't sure if they would make their rounds that early. I went ahead and took a Taxi which there are plenty of lined up, hard to miss after getting through gate. My spanish is really bad, the Taxi driver said how much it cost but I didn't understand so I gave him 7. He said something which sounded like I didn't give him enough so i gave him another 1$ as i didn't want any problems.

Got to the hotel, they make you empty pockets and pass through metal detector and a pat down. They also went through a very rigorous search of my backpack. Like they searched every nook and cranny. I was a little concerned that they wouldn't have a room available since it was around 2:30PM but it didn't seem to be an issue. I paid for the VIP card, paid the deposit got the receipt and went to my room. The worst part of the whole experience was the room I was given. It took my way longer then it should have to understand where the light switches were and to get the lights I wanted. The shower had an issue with the handle and the water kept turning off unless you held it. The toilet flush handle was loose and had to be careful flushing every time. There was no instructions for the safe that was in the room, but I didn't use it anyway. There looked like there was wifi, but there was nothing that said what the password was. Because of my limited spanish, and having a little bit of a hard time understanding them when I checked in, i just dealt with the room. In hindsight, I should of told someone and I'm glad that once I checked out they didn't mention these broken things and try to take the deposit. All of these weren't even the worst part. There was no going to sleep before 5AM. At least that is when it was noticeable that the noise had started to wind down between the music next door / the talking / the heels clicking in the hallway.
