Is it Trying Too Hard or Not at All?

After visiting a friend at Morristown Hospital, I decided to pay a visit and do a spot check on nearby Fringe. It was 6:30p on a Friday.

The place is up a hill off a main road. Plenty of spaces available in their parking lot. I entered the club and there was no one at the front desk so I just walked in. I'm not sure if there's usually a cover charge, but I never paid one and no mandatory drink purchase was required. The main room consists of a long rectangular bar with chairs all around it and to the left is the stage that protrudes from a curtained area. The place has a new-ish faux opulence, loungy night club vibe. There are chairs around the rack and most of the seating/tables are directly to the left and back, up a couple of steps.

There were no dancers on stage - all customers (about 8) were at the bar or an adjacent booth. When I asked about this, they would tell me it's too early. I looked around and saw that most of the dancers were sitting at the bar, it seemed with regulars. At least there was a familiarity, almost like they were on dates. I saw white (American and Eastern European), latino and black dancers. I found one dancer sitting alone in one of the lounge areas, so I sat next to her and asked about the club. She said I should come later at night if I really want to see the club in action. I said I'd like it to be in action right now - she asked if I wanted a dance and we went down a hallway in the back to where the semi-private lap dance area is. Her name was Sara and she's from Columbia (late 20's it seemed) - she has a tall, lanky look of a runway model with almost an aloof presence about her. She's attractive with natural C's and would alternate between being seductive and looking bored. There was a guy at the lap dance entrance and I paid for two dances ($25 each). She was wearing a one piece bathing suit type garment and told me only minimal touch. But as the dance went on and the guy left, she allowed better touching over the clothes, but she never took off her one-piece or showed her tits. Out of curiosity, I asked about the VIP and I think she said $250 (without telling me the length) but she didn't try to sell that at all.
