I went to Barefax Gentlemen’s Club several times including a Wednesday night and a Thursday night. You enter and walk up a staircase to the second floor of the building. There is a coat check room and a metal detector at the top of the stairs. There is a $9 cover charge starting at 20:00. Once in the club, the small bar is on the back wall. The main stage is on the left wall. It has a single pole. There is a staircase on the right wall that goes up to the third floor of the building. Private dances and champagne rooms are up on the third floor along with the dressing room. The DJ booth is built onto the stairway halfway between the second and third floors. The washroom is manned by a Haitian bathroom troll.

Sincweisers were $9. Shots were $10. A small glass of Coca-Cola with ice was $7. There was a special for Coors Light: four cans for $22. There is no food served, only a vending machine with snacks on the third floor. I went up to the vending machine to grab a candy bar one night, having been familiar with the layout over the previous nights. The DJ screamed at me as I went up the stairs like I was not supposed to be up there alone. I said, “Calm down. I’m just going to get an Oh Henry! out of the machine.” If you really need something to sop up the alcohol, there is a poutine/hot dog shack that is open late just two storefronts east of the strip club.

Dancers don’t start on stage until 20:00. If you come before 20:00, there might only be a couple dancers glued to their regulars. The stage rotation worked something like this: A dancer went on stage for two songs, eventually getting topless. Then, there was a one song intermission. The dancer would return for one more song, getting completely nude. Then, there was a two song intermission until the next dancer took the stage. About half the time, you are looking at an empty stage. There was very little stage tipping compared to American strip clubs. I did see a guy and girl lay on the stage with a $5 bill in their mouth, and the dancer would retrieve the tips with her mouth or breasts.
