High Mileage Dances and High Mileage Dancers

Visited PH early this afternoon. In Philly for a conversion and based on the reviews of this place and the Outer Space Club I figured this was more my speed. It is a long haul from downtown and even further from the airport. So you need to be committed if you want to try the experience.

The club is actually in NJ. But I consider anything within an hour as a suburb of a big city. The neighborhood is car dealers and strip malls. So it felt safe in the daylight and I don’t think I’d be concerned at night. There were at least 40 cars in the parking lot at around 2:00. Yes, the building is pink. But as much of a deal that people seem to make out of it I was looking for a giant pink warehouse or castle.

No cover, but $10 for a soda. Many of the customers did the BYOB thing as there is no alcohol served. I knew that and was giving my liver a break before watching the World Series tonight. The cute bartender kept their unopened drinks on ice. She even put limes in someone’s Coronas. It is an interesting setup with the stage running the length of the main room surrounded by the bar.

I sat on the left side and it seemed to get the most attention from the girls as the bathroom, dressing room and entrance to VIP are on that side. The girls work the stage for a couple dances then mill around for tips. Some are more interactive than others. I found that a dollar went a long way with some. It felt like I was plugging quarters into a slot machine and getting pretty good retunes.

That eventually died out as I think the girls that I turned down for VIP gave up. There are lots of comments about geriatrics and old age with this place. I figured there was some exaggeration going on or different standards for “old” when it comes to strippers. I thought the “old” dancers would be mid-thirties pushing 40. I was wrong. There were a couple that appeared to be mid-60 pushing 70. Most were at least in their thirties.
