Cheap drinks, weak talent.

I stopped by Dreamgirls on a Tuesday evening around 9PM. As others have noted, it is a large club located in a light industry area, just off of I 75 (Outer Drive exit). Parking is ample, adequately lit and, best of all, free, as in no annoying parking attendant.

Admission was $15 dollars. Tuesdays feature inexpensive drinks. I paid $2 for a light beer (and gave the cute bartender the remainder of a 5). The club is very nicely appointed, with a large heart shaped stage with three floor to ceiling stripper poles. The height of the ceiling is probably 30-40 feet and there is an upstairs that contains relatively small lap dance cubicles (which do not have a door or other privacy feature. The upstairs also contains several nicely appointed private dance rooms, which rent out in varying time slots, starting at $25 for 15 minute VIP stay and going up from there. The upstairs also contains a wrap around balcony with affords nice views of the stage on the first floor as well as another bar, which is usually closed but seems to also function as a bar for smokers. Fortunately, the main floor does not seem to allow smoking. The sound system is good and most of the music was rock or hip hop. One thing that I like about this club is that some of the dancer perform nude.

All of the above sounds great but on this particular evening, the talent was disappointing. Maybe 10 dancers working, most of whom were white and chubby. Most of the dancers did three song sets on stage, getting topless by the their song. None of the dancers on this particular night performed nude. Furthermore, the dancer rotation had l5-10 minute intervals of time with no one on stage, As a result, it took a long time to see most of the dancers and none of them were sufficiently interesting to merit a private dance. Private dances (in the not too private cubicles upstairs are $25/song and the dancer typically gets topless. By the way, in previous visits the dancers were very upfront about what kind of extras services they offered in the private dance area. But I didn't pursue that discussion on this particular visit.
