The Winds of Change

Stopped by Shimmers (now Trophy's) on a Monday because it has become a go-to haunt for me due to its consistency.

If you've never been, they have a pretty sizeable parking lot and the sign still says Shimmers up top in a faded neon pink. Other than that, it looks like any old dive bar with video poker machines, worn carpet, and a dimly lit atmosphere that takes a moment for your eyes to adjust to. Shimmers isn't glamorous by any means. In fact, it's pretty shitty, which keeps prices reasonable and extras consistently available. However, I think the new management aims to change that, unfortunately.

I got a non-alcoholic beverage from the bar ($4) and sat down at the stage to begin feeding some $1s into the gyrating reverse ATM on stage. There are never very many girls working during the day and this Monday was no exception. There were four girls total, which was actually an improvement from some prior visits I've experienced. One cute new girl (tall, athletic, AA, with curly shoulder length hair) looked like she actually knew what she was doing with the pole up there, which was quite different from the usual prowling for dances and casual stick shifting for dollars on stage.
