Mermaids on the Corner

Vacationing on St. Pete Beach with frequent trips to Treasure Island and John's Pass, everyone knows the location of Mermaids. It's often used when people give directions, "turn left at Mermaids". But most everyone claims they have never been inside.

Mermaids often looks like a closed business with and empty parking lot and a dingy sign "No Cover". But cars do start to show up after their 8pm opening time. When I stopped in on a recent Saturday night there must have been 15 cars in the parking lot.

Walked right in, ID checked, and "no cover". Long bar to the right as you go through the door with a good size dance floor to the left. Nautical theme with some glow in the dark drawings on the wall. Ordered a beer at the bar for $7, and took a seat on the far side of the stage.
