I got bored with touring monuments...
I got bored with touring monuments and museums on Saturday and decided to return here to see some curves. Camelot is a few blocks from the Farragut West Metro and is in the business district of DC away from the tourists. My visit lived up to expectations, both positive and negative.
A sweater-clad bouncer at the door seated me near the small stage. As I’ve said before, the club is rectangular with a small stage in the center of the club and a bar at the other end. Unless you’re near the center the sight lines aren’t great. The girls typically dance for three songs then solicit customers for tips. Strangely, the CD player would play about twenty seconds of a song then mysteriously cut into a different song, but the dancers seemed oblivious and kept right on going. They would also tip each other as they left the stage. Must be a custom in this place.
The women at this club are decidedly gorgeous, and my waitress could have easily been up on stage as well. Her open blouse barely concealed the goods beneath. Unfortunately there’s a price to pay for the beauty. A bottle of Guinness (no drafts here) was a whopping $8.80 plus tip. There are no lap dances in DC, and the closest you’ll get to a dancer is by walking up and giving her a dollar tip. It’s kind of an embarrassing process, so I stayed in my seat.
