Were they away at church?

I hadn't been to Savannah's in several years, but my last experience was pleasant enough and I was looking forward to this one. I visited on an early Sunday evening, about 2 hours after the club had opened. Five or six vehicles in the parking lot, figured it might be a little slow but I like a club like that.

I walked in the front door and was greeted by a disinterested but polite enough hostess. I paid the $10 cover charge, broke a $20 bill into singles, and walked into the club.

Once inside, I could see the club was upscale for the area, large, clean, with a curved bar a butting a circular stage. Four televisions hung on the wall two playing baseball, two playing nascar. I sat at the bar with two other patrons and watched the bartender play on her phone for 5 minutes, walking past me twice. I said nothing, because I didn't want to have to say anything. When she's finally noticed me, she startled and apologized for being distracted. My first drink was comped because of that, and because despite the club having been open for 2 hours, there were no dancers visible, on stage or anywhere else in the building.
