It was a June Friday in Phx, and it was it hot...so hot I went to Sugar44 after dark to
I have reviewed this club before, but quickly, it is a smallish club in an ok part of Phoenix. There is parking in the back off the street, and if you want to not park there, you can park across the south side of Thomas in the shopping center parking lot near some food places, and walk over. I do that sometimes for whatever reason, probably because I have seen rednecks doing drugs or transactions in the back parking lot, so I will risk the walk across Thomas instead of going back there. When you walk in there is going to be a door man, but in summer, he'll likely be inside talking up the admittance fee girl. It was I think $10 on a Friday night, at let's call it almost 10 o'clock. I gave her $5 tip for which she gave me an enthusiastic thank you. The place was more well lit walking in than I remember, but it could be that I came in at night as opposed to daytime when you walk in you can't see anything for a few moments as your eyes adjust. You will be facing the bar, which is important as I think most guys will want to go there and camp out for a few minutes. The bar was relatively empty, with just one guy talking to a chick in what I perceived to be a red wig.
So, I saddled up to the bar, and ordered a miller lite, which was $8. I was just going to drink it while I took in the floor activity. About the floor. you have a stage in the main part of the room, with some scattered tables on the floor around it, and then some bench type seating on the walls, with a few deep corners. The Very Expensive Dances room, I mean the VIP room is elevated along the opposite side, along with DJ booth. The club was not busy, but there were a number of tables occupied. There were I think two cocktail waitresses to go with bartender. I am going to bitch again about this, since I recall doing it before, but can Sugar44 seriously not afford some kind of uniforms that they have waitstaff wearing street clothes to work in? It can be so much better of an atmosphere if you do at least something of a uniform/costume. This is not an farmer/logger bar in the Northwoods of Minnesota.
There was a relatively tall busty girl who had replaced the side shaved blonde on stage not far into my beer, and I was kinda thinking I would be looking her up eventually. She was followed by a similarly built girl, maybe not as tall, and not quite as tight looking and I think they said her name was Luna. I saw several other dancers sitting and wandering around, so there were enough girls to make it interesting at very least. While I was doing this, another girl came out and came over and wrapped her arms around me from the side, and started talking to my ear. Honestly, I barely looked at her then, but had seen her cross the floor once. She had long black hair and was pretty well built. Thinnish, but still good curves. Now, I always try to drink most of a beer to wash away the people anxiety I get, and I usually turn down all comers for at least that time frame. So I idle chatted her while she stood there wrapped around me and said I would do a few floor dances, and she said she doesn't do floor dances, only VIP, and I asked what the cost was and she told me $20 for the arm band and $25 per dance. She seemed really confident I was going to go, but I said I wasn't ready and she looked a little confused by it, and said ok, but come and find me when you are ready.
