An Off Night for the Rhino
Back in Vegas for the week, so I will be reviewing a handful of clubs. First up is the Rhino. It was a bit of a let down, but it was a Tuesday night which is not a good night for clubbing. I typically would wait until later in the week to go out, but I was meeting a dancer there that I met last time I was in town. I wanted to discuss a private meet later in the week. The date was made, so I stayed in the club a couple of hours so I could provide a review.
I arrived at a little past 10pm, parked myself and headed to the door. There is ample free parking. The lot is typically pretty empty because most people either get the free car service or take a Lyft/Uber since they will be drinking. I limited my drinking this night (for those that follow my posts, this is not usual for me, LOL). I was wanded at the door, ID scanned, paid the stupid $43.60 cover and went inside. The cover is the thing I hate about the Rhino. A lot of places let me in free with my military ID. No such luck with the Rhino. But hey, if you want me to pay a cover at least make in an even dollar amount.
Inside you enter down a wide hallway with the main stage and seating area to your front and left. Just before getting to the main seating area, on the right side wall is the the entrance to the $200 for 30 minutes VIP room - a horseshoe shaped room with cushioned benches on both sides. No privacy. The $200 is given directly to the dancer, then you buy a two drink minimum. Past that VIP entrance on the right is the smaller bar area. That bar doesn't have any of the good stuff. Past the main stage and up three steps is another room. The larger main bar is at the far left side of this room. They occasionally have some nicer high end stuff. At the back left and right corner of this room are two small circular stages, almost like the old go-go stages many night clubs used to have. On the right side wall just as you are heading up to that room is the $100 for 15 minutes VIP room. Its actually a couple of rooms. Same style benches as the 30 minute room. Pay the dance the $100, but drinks once inside. This is another of my pet peeves about Rhino. Sell me the drinks before I go into the room. There's nothing worse than getting 5 minutes into a 15 minute set and the waitress comes up just as you are getting into the dance. Buzz kill. She leaves and five minutes later comes back with the drinks just as you are finally getting back into the dance. Gotta pull out your wallet, get change, etc. Please, give me the drinks as I go in and let me have 15 uninterrupted minutes. I had whiskey on the rocks and it was around $20 at the main bar. I paid about $50 for two drinks and tip in the VIP.
