What is the opposite of a Spearmint Rhino? A Peppermint Hippo. I went to the Peppermint Hippo at 19:45 on a Friday night. I was wanded with a metal detector, and my drivers license was scanned. There was a $10 cover charge. Although the club looks like a pole barn from the outside, it is very upscale inside. The bar is on the right wall. Immediately to the right of the door is the private dance area, which is not too private. The far left side of the club is where the VIP rooms are. The back wall has an elevated area with reserved seating and a small refrigerator full of champagne bottles. The center of the room is dominated by a large rectangle stage with two pole positions.
Sincweisers were $6 per bottle. A Dr. Pepper from the soda gun was $5. The ATM has a maximum withdrawal of $800 and charges a 10% fee. The club had about eight male employees on Friday night and two sexy female bartenders. One of the male employee’s sole job was to stand at the stage with a sweeper to gather up and stack the dollars dancers received on stage. It was actually annoying because they would be sweeping up dollars almost as soon as you tipped them on stage. It would have been nice if he just waited until the two song set was over. There is no stage contact, so there was not much of a stage tipping culture here. I was the only guy tipping the stage the whole time I was at the Peppermint Hippo. When dancers would finish their set, they would walk over to me and thank me for the tips. Every single dancer I tipped did this; I thought it was a nice show of gratitude that you don’t see in most strip clubs anymore.
