36 hours in HK, day 1 of 2 (Sunday)

Transportation:

I booked this trip about 1 month ago waiting for airline tickets to be cheap and managed to get a direct, R/T from somewhere in CA to San Diego for $136. Arrived to SAN around 12:00 p.m. on Sunday. The line for the shuttle to the rental car center was LONG so I took the city bus to connect with the San Diego Trolley blue line which took about 25 minutes. Got on the Blue line trolley to San Isidro and headed to the border. Took about 50 minutes. Arrived to the border around 2:20 p.m. NO line at immigration. I handed them my 6-month visa (obtained in November) and was ushered through. Walked to the Zona shuttle booth and the gentleman informed me that it'd be 20-30 minutes. I asked if it'd be better to take a taxi and he said probably. I asked where to get one, and he said hang on (in not so many words). He took longer than I anticipated to flag one down and then negotiated the driver from $7 down to $5 on my behalf. I tipped him $1 for the help. I paid the driver $5+$1 tip because he was friendly so I didn't save any money but was happy with the outcome.

Cascades:

I went through security at HK to obtain my VIP card to get the discount at Cascades. It was now 2:50 p.m. and checkin was supposed to be at 3:00 p.m. I went upstairs and was told my room was not ready. I was sent to the lobby area to wait with 4 other Americans. They had been waiting since 12 noon and were understandably frustrated. 2 additional patrons joined us in the wait. Eventually, they took my money ($120 including $30 deposit for the two nights) and gave me my room key but told me my room was still not ready. I wanted to ditch my bag and head to the club but did not want to leave my laptop. Around 3:40 p.m. I was told my room was ready. I arrived and it was being mopped but he wrapped up shortly after. I settled into the deluxe room (2 beds). Every girl I brought up asked "are you with a friend?" to which I said "no" and then they said "Ah, one bed for sleeping and one for fun?" It is now the company slogan.
