More brothel than strip club. Still not certain about the name of this club.

This was my first visit to the Rio Grande Valley. Having read prior reviews of this club, I decided to give it a try. I parked on the US side of the border ($2 for daily parking) and walked across the bridge into Mexico. My passport was not checked on the way into Mexico. This border crossing has a steady flow of pedestrians and cars but it was never busy, as in having lines or back ups. It would have been easy to drive into Mexico but the "downtown" is small and there was really no advantage of having a car, unless you wanted to venture further into to the country.

The town consists of narrow, dusty street lined with shops. Many of the shops were pharmacies selling various drugs (e.g., 30 Cialis costing $45 seemed to be a commonly hawked item). There were a number of dental services, manicure/pedicure services, etc. The sidewalks were narrow and lined with people selling clothes and tchotchkes. Every shop seemed to have one or more hawkers trying to encourage the passer by, about half of whom appeared to be US tourists, into their store.

After navigating about three blocks into the downtown, I found the address listed in prior reviews (Av. Benito Juárez 207, which has been updated recently to a more accurate address). This was the location of a restaurant named Arturo's, not fancy but one of the nicer looking buildings in Nuevo Progresso. I looked around and could not spot a men's club. Thinking that maybe the club was "hidden" inside the restaurant, I even went into the restaurant and asked the host if he knew how to find "Senorial Men's Club." No luck. I walked back on to the street and decided to proceed further into the town. About half way through the next block, one of the hawkers at a pharmacy asked me if I needed some directions. He then offered to walk me to the "men's club." He first walked me to a club that was 1/2 block off the main street, called Vampiz (this was written on the exterior of the building). I walked into to a small dark club with a bar on the left and 4 or 5 girls sitting in a small group. From what I could tell with my "not-yet-dark-adapted" eyes, they were mostly pudgy and not especially attractive. I declined and my "guide" said there is another club in town. So we left Vampiz, and went back to the main street and went about a block or two further south. By this time we were maybe 7 or 8 blocks from the border and the number of shops and tourists had thinned out considerably. As a note, I didn't feel unsafe but I did notice that I did not see any security anywhere (except right at the border).
