A Cuban in Charlotte

I stop in at the Gold Club about once per week. Most of the time I get at least one dance, but rarely stay for more than 30 - 45 minutes. It is convenient and friendly, but I would not drive out of my way to go there.

The club is easy to find and is right by a light rail station. Parking is free, but I would pay a fee if they would fix the parking lot. They seem to do patches from time to time, but they don't last all that long. The club is in a safe area, some retail and light industrial.

You enter the club to a desk where you pay a cover at night, no cover and no detectors during the day. The rest rooms are just past the entry area. The men's room has been redone a number of times, but one urinal is usually broken and the place smells like urine. No bathroom troll though. The club opens up to the right with some seating areas and a stage with a pole. There is a smaller stage right where you walk in and one to the back. The two smaller stages are not used on a regular basis during the day. Actually, even the main stage is only used a minor percentage of the time. The bar is all the way in the back and during the day the PL's (including me) seem to congregate there. There is also an upstairs which is where most of the dancing is done. They have what they call a VIP area which is just a bunch of sofas in an open area and the Executive Lounge which is one loveseat in a separate area that is far from private.
