Good Customer Service
I visited Booby Trap a couple of times on my last trip to south Florida, one late night visit after midnight, and one a bit earlier, around 10:00 p.m. The exterior of the building looks the same, except that the temporary construction door is gone now that what seemed like the perpetual renovations are finally complete.
Parking is still $1. My late night visit was on a Friday night, and the cover charge was an astounding $30. Even more astounding, the entire cover charge was waived with a military ID. I think the cover charge the next evening when I got there a little bit earlier was $20, if I recall correctly, but was not waived. The door guy actually apologized and said something about it being Saturday night, or a fight on TV, or something, I can’t remember exactly. It doesn’t really matter. They don’t owe me anything, but if they have a discount, I’ll take it. I should have followed up by asking if they had an AARP discount.
Well, the remodel is finally done, and wow! The old Booby Trap was a small, cramped, mid to lower tier dive. It’s now upscale and gorgeous looking. Although still somewhat small looking for the size of the building, it’s now roomier and on two levels, but I didn’t go upstairs. It’s basically a big box, with bars on either and, and a long stage in between. A beer cost $8. Not cheap, but I’ve seen worse.
