Sure That This is a Brothel?

This is my third trip to Nogales over the past four years and every time I tried to find the clubs. The first two trips were weekdays during the early evening. Not having any knowledge of the area and I had little time before dark, I was getting nervous because the streets were empty. Both times I spent some time in Obsession, but couldn’t find the other clubs. This trip was a Saturday. I started early in the day so I could explore in daylight. Apparently, the only two clubs still open in Nogales are Obsession and Studio 69.

In the past, the GPS wanted me to exit one border crossing and enter another that was closed by Covid. All other routes looked to be a long path to get to the other side of the tracks or on the other side of a hill (which wasn’t really the case as it was my lack of knowledge that was at issue). Turns out that Studio 69 is not far from a pedestrian bridge that goes over the railway tracks. Feel a bit foolish now, because it is actually fairly easy to find.

To get to Studio 69, go over the pedestrian bridge and turn back toward the border. One block over to the right and three blocks down, the club is on the right side of the street. The area is rather empty. I scoped it during daylight, knowing that it was not likely to be open until after 7:00. As I was crossing the pedestrian bridge, someone came up behind me. I turned to a defensive posture, and he realized that he was uncomfortably close to me. He apologized for startling me, saying, “Lo siento” (I am sorry). He was decently dressed, carrying an expensive, leather backpack, so I wasn’t concerned. I found the club and as expected the club was closed, so I went to Obsession to kill some time.
