Needing a way to allow the smoke to waft away from my clothing after a visit to Penns Port Pub just a few hundred steps away, I decided to visit Show N Tell for the first time since my buddy’s bachelor party in 1999. What I remembered from that experience was a completely wild club - packed with people, strippers on every stage, guys throwing balled up money at strippers’ pussies while the ladies were on the stage with legs spread wide, booze flowing everywhere. Bachelor party honorees were called up on stage and tied to a chair with their own belt. Basically, complete debauchery. Alas, that was 23 years ago, and while the club has the same name and the same physical space, that vibe is completely gone.

TUSCL shows the club opening at 9pm. I got there at 10:15. Even though the last review by Muddy noted that he went in the wrong entrance through the adult novelty shop, I made that same mistake. It’s a really stupid setup - it’s all lit up from the outside, says Show N Tell, and many clubs that have adjoining porn shops also have you enter through the shop. So I did that, there was nobody at the counter in the shop, I turned left and saw a completely empty room with closed lap dance room doors. I retraced my steps and went through another open doorway, this time through a completely empty room that had a sports bar vibe, but the chairs were upside down on the bar and the lights were off. I was beginning to wonder if they were actually open. I pushed forward from the sports bar and saw a huge strip club, but also encountered my first other person - a guy had apparently come in through the correct entrance and was paying his $20 cover. I stood behind him in line and then paid my cover. They gave me a huge fluorescent wrist band that said SHOW N TELL and the bouncer/cashier casually mentioned “we are just opening up right now.” I almost asked him for my money back - I have a SO go get home to, and didn’t want to sit around waiting for the place to warm up.

Going into the strip club part, it’s a crazy layout of 4-5? Stages with tons of barside seats. Other seating around the wall as well. One of the biggest strip clubs I’ve been in around the Philly/South Jersey area. On the far opposite side of the room, there were 4-5 dancers hanging around talking to the male employees of the club. Maybe 4 patrons spread all around the room. No dancers on stage when I arrived. The bartender introduced herself and I ordered a water, which I was pleased was only $2. Sorry, not sure how expensive drinks were - but remember, walking in the door, I’m already $20 in. Playhouse Lounge gives you two free waters for your $10 cover.
