Landing Strip is one of my favorite clubs in metro Detroit. Located just west of the Detroit airport in a small community, the building appears to be an old, three story hotel that has been nicely renovated. I dropped my car with the mandatory valet ($7). I should note that the mandatory valet is really unnecessary as the parking area and the small downtown appear to be well lit and safe. Evidently, this mandatory valet parking policy was implemented several years ago in response to drunk and rowdy patrons leaving the bar and wandering around the town in search of their cars. Now the valet gets their car and sends the drunks out on the interstate roads! I'm not a fan of mandatory valets or of drunk, rowdy patrons who create a scene or drive while impaired.
I went up the stairs to the second story entrance to the main club. There is no entry charge in the afternoon and no charge for seating in a booth. The club has been described numerous times. Nice raised stage in the center of the room. The stage is shaped somewhat like an airplane (thus the name "landing strip," or maybe that name refers to an aesthetic style of pubic hair trimming?). Bar to the left as you enter. Bathrooms (typically no troll during the afternoon shifts) and DJ booth to the right as you enter. Private dance facilities are located down a set of stairs in the back of the building. Private dance booths are comfortable size and have privacy curtains, a padded bench seat and a wall hanger for clothing.
Drinks are typically priced for a strip club (translated: overpriced as in 8 dollars for a domestic beer). Service was good and the food is reported to be quite good.
