Slow afternoon

Had been leery to return to Bristol after the news reports about shootings last year at night but that was almost a year ago and I figured checking out the day shift when I was in the area wouldn't hurt. Well it didn't hurt but it wasn't great either. Got there a bit after noon when they opened. Bought a 5 buck beer from the pretty bartender and looked around. Nothing different since the last time I was here. Still a dive bar with the same floor level stage with darkness accented by rope lights. Sign on the wall said the prices for dances were the same too 20 for a ld and 100 for a half hour. That got me excited but then I realized there were only two dancers that I could see. They were in the corner with a guy nursing a beer. Seemed there should have been five on according to the sign behind the bar but I don't know if they were getting ready or not. Told the bartender it had been awhile and asked if some of my old favorites still danced there. She said sure. And then walked away. I finished the beer slowly to see if any of the girls would make there way over but they didn't. So I called it an afternoon without seeing or talking to anyone. I used to love this place and hope this was just an off day. I'll try again if I am in the area but hopegully won't waste a half hour.
