Three Tuesdays with Larry
This review is actually a combined review of 3 visits: November and December 2021 and February 2022, all on Tuesday nights. Tuesday is their busiest week night due to their $2 drink special (with a heightened $20 admission fee).
Prior to the COVID times, I would visit STL somewhat frequently for work, and Larry's had been my default club for years. On these recent visits, I found that the club had received a few updates. The old stage has been replaced with a slightly smaller heart-shaped stage that is set inside the main floor rather than against the far wall. As a result, patrons can now be seated around the entire stage. The bathrooms also received a significant upgrade compared to the dark, worn-down pit that was there before. Lastly, new plush purple booths have been installed along three of the perimeter walls. Overall, some nice upgrades to keep the place feeling fresh. Perhaps these updates are part of why dance prices have increased by $10, with table dances at $20 (literally never seen anyone buy one of these), topless couch dances at $30, and nude bed dances at $40.
Despite this fresh remodel, I felt like the personnel has faltered a little bit. What I'd previously categorize as a 7-up factory now had a few dancers in the 5 or 6 range. This wouldn't necessarily beat problem, though, as there were still plenty of dancers on 2 of the 3 visits. However, it also seemed to me that the dancers had become a little more complacent, preferring to take stage cash rather than work the room. Stage tipping that used to receive follow-up on the floor wasn't as successful, so maybe I need to adjust my spending habits. My December visit was the worst of the three with literally zero dancers stopping by despite an uncharacteristically low number of other patrons. I was pleased to find that the level of attention I received two weeks ago was almost back at the level I have come to expect, thankfully.
