The Gold Club in Groton is...

The Gold Club in Groton is an great example of what a decent alcohol serving strip club in Connecticut should be like. Near the local Navy base, the club is very easy to get to from almost anywhere in the southeastern part of the state.

To be honest, my first visit here was actually my first visit to a club in a long time, so I had to play the part of the unsure patron for a little while (okay, a long while... sorry). The cover is reasonable, being $7 when I went on a late mid-week night, $10 on the weekend visit. Upon entering, there is a nice full bar that dominates the right hand wall of the club with at least 10 plasma screens (if not more) above it. Perfect for either that guy in your group who feels guilty watching the girls, or for visiting of Sundays for to watch NFL and take advantage of their buffett (sorry, I haven't tried this yet, but other gentlemen in the club whom I know said it was very good).

The reason why one would go into a strip club, however, is to the left . Towards the front is a satellite stage for the girls to dance on with a pole in the center, while not far from that is the main stage. The main stage is bigger and also features a pole, but also has a blower near it's front as well as some smoke generators. On a slow night, anywhere from 2 to 4 girls were dancing at any one time except during 'specials' (more on that later).
