Felt a little haggard, but at its core - same ol' Jumbo's

It had been a long while since I visited Jumbo's. On this particular night I was actually at Tabula Rasa (nearby wine bar) with a couple lady friends, and after realizing where I was, I half-jokingly mentioned we should go to Jumbo's. To my surprise, they were both very curious, so we finished our drinks and headed over post haste.

There was an obnoxious, outdoor rave this particualr night at KT (Thai restaurant in the same strip mall) which had taken over part of the parking lot. I'm not sure if this had any direct impact on Jumbo's, but there was no line. Upon entering, the club didn't feel more than half-full either. Surprising, considering how I always remember it on a Saturday... which is to say, packed to the gills. Plus a huge line outside.

The crowd on this particular Saturday was a bit... rough. Not in terms of dangerous, but rough in the sense that it felt a bit a lot more divey than I remembered. The Jumbo's of yore was filled with lively, fun, hip people. This night had a more 909, milquetoast, subdued feel. But hey, it's Jumbo's. Girls are on stage and the beer is cold. What are you going to do?
